Day 4

Palermo, Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, Day 2, November 2011

Our hostel is located just outside the barrio (neighbourhood) of Palermo.  The sites of Palermo are within walking distance from out hostel, and today, boy did we walk?! First we walked to Palermo Chic, and Nilgun window shopped the many fashion boutiques along the tree lined cobbled streets.

After a brief stop for some people watching and a Margarita (on Nilfuer's request :-), we headed on to the parks of main Palermo.  We took time out for a picnic in the park, and saw first hand the Porteño's passion for dogs.  Dogs of all sizes and shapes, but mainly pedigree and some in handbags.  We saw a couple of dog walkers and came to the conclusion that if the dozen dogs wanted to go for a run the handler had no chance of keeping hold.

We ended the day in a traditional Parrilla, in Palermo, and had the most tender, juicy and huge steak (thanks for the recommendation Rough Guide!).  Finished off with a delightful cocktail shaken by a bottle throwing, flamboyant barmen in a very plush bar... Note to self must keep a closer eye on budgets.
